Shifting of Chinese cargo flows to port Zarubino (Primorsky Territory) will let considerably decrease shipping time and logistic expenses, Marat Shaidayev, Head of United Grain Corporation said at the 40th meeting of the Grain Cub.
According to him, north-eastern provinces of China are interested in the access to Primorye ports due to their location. There is a huge potential for expansion of grain flows from the north-eastern to the southern provinces of China amid the forecasted growth of grain and meat consumption in China.
The new grain terminal in the Far East of Russia can take over some 11 mln t of Chinese cargo per year, said Marat Shaidayev.
The Far East grain terminal is among the priority projects of the United Grain Corporation. The terminal is to be built under the Big Port Zarubino project in the Primorsky Territory. The bulk of cargo flows is to be formed by export cargo from Siberian and the Far East as well as transit cargo from the north-eastern provinces of China. The first phase of the terminal is to be completed by 2020. Its capacity is to make 3 mln t per year which is to be later expanded to 10 mln t and then to 23 mln t of grain per year.
