Throughput of port Odessa (Ukraine) down 2.5% to 10.2 mln t in Jan-May'16
In January-May 2016, Odessa Commercial Sea Port handled 10,242,470 t of cargo (-2.5%, year-on-year), the port’s statistics says.
Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo totaled 786,150 (-60.7%, year-on-year), loose dry cargo- 3,868,380 t; packaged cargo – 5,587,940 t (+18.4%).
The port’s container throughput in Jan-May'16 increased by 25.7% (193,452 TEUs against 153,841 TEUs in Jan-May'15). IN May, the port handled 38,792 TEUs (+32.9%, year-on-year).
Ukraine based Port of Odessa is one of the largest ports of the Black Sea-Azov basin. The major stevedore operating at the port is state-owned Odessa Commercial Sea Port. The port's throughput capacity is 14 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo and 14 million tonnes of liquid bulk a year. The Odessa Marine Passenger Terminal can accommodate 300-m-long vessels.
