Rosmorrechflot says Russia needs about 360 river and sea/river newbuilds by 2020
Minimum demand for newbuilds of inland and mixed sea/river navigation by 2020 is about 360 cargo ships and 40 passenger ships, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Victor Vovk, deputy head of the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency (Rosmorrechflot) as saying at the joint meeting of the Board and the Public Council of Rosmorrechflot.
He says the current cargo fleet numbers about 12,000 units with average age of 36 years. Recent 15 years have seen decommissioning of cargo ships exceeding introduction of new vessels by 11 times. Yet, the level of Russian shipyards’ loading is estimated by Rosmorrechflot at 50%.
