Van Oord: ‘PortXL provides knowledge and energy’

In a period of 3 months, 12 start-up teams participated in the accelerator programme PortXL in the port of Rotterdam. The partners in PortXL, including Van Oord, deployed almost 200 mentors to convert the ideas of these international start-up teams into products that fulfil market needs, the Company said in a media release.

Van Oord brought in several engineers with expert knowledge about projects and vessels to act as mentors. All start-ups declared to stay in Rotterdam which further strengthens the maritime cluster in the port.

Van Oord (Dredging and Marine Contractors) is a Dutch company founded in 1868, which specializes in dredging and land reclamation. The company operates across its 25 branches with the staff of over 4200 employees. It has a fleet of 97 vessels, including trailing suction hopper dredgers, cutter suction dredgers, etc.
