Damen launches new cutting machines at its production units

Damen Shipyards Group has put into operation brand new steel cutting machines at its Chinese and European production units.

"Both at our Chinese production unit in Jiangyin and at our European plant, the latest, state-of-the-art steel cutting machines have been put into action. These new MicroStep plasma cutting machines are highly accurate and, due to the rotator head, all bevelling can also be executed on the machine," the Group says in a press release.

The units are capable of cutting steel and stainless steel up to approximately 30 mm including a maximum bevel of 45°. Next to this, the machines are equipped with an inkjet writer so that each cut piece can be marked and is traceable during the production process. For larger thicknesses the former units were revised and taken into production as if they were new.
