Reduction of FPP size is a key task of their optimization, says Rosatom

One of the key tasks to ensure optimization of floating power plants construction is to decrease their dimensions, Sergey Kiriyenko, Director General of Rosatom Corporation, told journalists.

“We only provide our partners worldwide with the products we have tried here. This ensures the highest reputation and the credit which Russian nuclear technologies enjoy globally, — said Sergey Kiriyenko. – So we are waiting for the delivery of the first floating power plant (Akademik Lomonosov – Ed.) which is to undergo the mooring trials. We comply with the schedule.”

According to the official, the floating power unit Akademik Lomonosov should be placed in Pevek. “We are looking into optimization … One of the main tasks is to decrease the size,” explained Sergey Kiriyenko.

He said that part of the accommodation systems can be placed ashore. “There is a task to decrease displacement, to reduce dimensions as the key issue is the competitive price”, said the official.

Sergey Kiriyenko said the construction of a FPP series is technologically possible.
