SPB Marine LLC – an official partner of the company Discom, says it supplied silencers Discom for the oceanographic research vessel. ORV will be constructed as a result of modification of the rescue towboat, which is going to be supplied to the customer in 2017.
A project of the boat, which is intended to be used for technical underwater operations, for the environmental monitoring of the sea, oceanographic survey of the bottom layer of the sea and for the participation in search and rescue operations, was elaborated by the construction design bureau «Almaz».
SPB Marine LLC was established in September 2007 by a group of engineers – graduates from the marine engineering department of Admiral S. O. Makarov State Marine Academy. In November 2007 the company signed a partnership agreement with Scania and in February 2008 a contract for delivery of a first Scania marine engine.
For five years of its cooperation with Scania SPB Marine LLC delivered and commissioned almost 50 Scania marine engines and in April 2013 signed a contract for delivery of 32 engines to the Navy that was a record in the whole history of Scania in Russia.
In addition to its cooperation with Scania SPB Marine LLC concluded partnership agreements with Bukh (2008) and Twin Disc (2010) Companies.
Baltic Shipyard “Yantar” based in Kaliningrad, Russia was founded on July 8, 1945 on the basis of a Koenigsberg unit of German’s Schichau Werft. Yantar Shipyard specializes in building and repairs of warships and civil boats. Throughout the years the Shipyard has built 160 warships and more than 500 merchant vessels. The Russian Government holds majority stake in the shipbuilding firm through Western Center of Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of state-owned United Shipbuilding Corporation.
