Coast Guard rescues six from sunken boat in Boston Harbor
A crew from Coast Guard Station Boston rescued six people Sunday morning after their boat sank near Castle Island in Dorchester Bay.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., watchstanders at Sector Boston received notification from the Massachusetts State Police stating they received a distress call via 911 of a boat sinking in Dorchester Bay, the USCG said.
A 45-foot rescue boat crew from Station Boston launched immediately and located six people in the water near a partially submerged boat between Castle Island and Thompson Island.
The crew recovered all six people at around 1:53 a.m and transported them to a pier in the reserved channel at 2:05 a.m. for medical evaluation by Boston Fire Department emergency medical services.
A Boston Police Department Marine unit and a Boston Fire Department marine unit also launched to assist.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the sinking is under investigation.
