Vostochny Port and Russian Railways sign agreement on cooperation

Oleg Belozerov, President of Russian Railways, and Anatoly Lazarev, Managing Director of JSC Vostochny Port, signed an agreement on cooperation at the Second Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, says IAA PortNews correspondent.

The document provides for cooperation under the project on Phase 3 of Vostochny Port’s Coal Terminal. A large portion of the project implies the construction of railway infrastructure facilities.

“In 2012 we started implementation of the project on construction of a new coal terminal which will include two railway-yards. Upon completion of the construction works, one of them, the departure yard at Nakhodka-Vostochnaya station, will be handed over to Russian Railways, said Anatoly Lazarev. – The port invests RUB 5 bln of its own resources into those yards. Total volume of investments into the project is RUB 27 bln. As of today, the project readiness is estimated at 75%. When the new terminal is fully operational after its commissioning in 2017, we expect doubling of the port’s throughput to 39 mln t of coal”.

JSC Vostochny Port is one of the key taxpayers in the Far East region (tax revenues in 2015 exceeded RUB 2 bln). It is on the list of socially responsible companies of the Primorsky Territory. The company numbers 1,700 employees. When Phase 3 of the Coal Terminal is put into operation, the number of personnel will grow to 2,200.
