Enrolment of Siberian State Water Transport University numbers 1,797 students including 781 students of higher education programme and 1,016 students of secondary vocational education programme, Russian Shipping portal (Media Group PortNews) refers to the University data.
According to the University, the federal budget will finance the education of 675 students including 370 students of Bachelor's programme, 245 – Specialist’s programme, 60 - Master's programme. 106 students will study at the University on a commercial basis (Bachelor's programme only).
According to the University, the number of applications has increased by 19%. The most popular specialities are ship navigation (the number of state-funded places has increased by 28%), operation of shipboard electrical and automation equipment (with the highest employment rates among the graduates) and operation of ship power plans, says Vitaly Glushets, vice-rector for academic affairs.
Siberian State Water Transport University is among Russia’s largest educational institutions beyond the Urals. The University numbers 9 faculties, 50 departments, post-graduate centers and a center of supplementary vocational education, four branch institutes (in Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Ust-Kut and Yakutsk), and a branch of higher professional education in Khabarovsk.
