A scheduled tactical training among ships of the Northern and the Pacific Fleets has been held within the Combat training plan near the New Siberian Islands, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.
After arrival of the Northern Fleet group of ships led by the major ASW ship vice-admiral Kulakov in the assigned district, the crews practiced escorting of vessels led by the Pacific Fleet icebreaker Ivan Susanin.
According to the Chief of the Combat training directorate of the Russian Navy Rear Admiral Viktor Kochemazov, the warships carried out joint navigation and maneuvering, replenishing and ASW activities, defence on unsafe roadstead.
The seamen also successfully performed the mission of liberation of a conventionally captured vessel. Supported by a deck-based Ka-27 helicopter they landed on the “seized” icebreaker Ivan Susanin.
