«Marine Façade» PLC (Saint-Petersburg) to develop infrastructure for handling of cargo ferries by 2018

Passenger Port of Saint-Petersburg «Marine Façade» PLC is set to develop infrastructure for handling of cargoes delivered by ferries by 2018, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Aleksei Panfilov, Commercial Director of «Marine Façade», as telling journalists. 

According to Andrei Mushkarev,  Chairman of Saint-Petersburg Committee for Tourism Development, one ferry can deliver up to 50 trucks of Euro-5 class. Handling of ferries will ensure round-the-year operation of the port and let it improve its financial performance, emphasized the official. 

Aleksandra Bakhmutskaya, Director of Saint-Petersburg Agency for Long-distance Transport Facilities, said in her turn, that arranging of ferry cargoes handling at «Marine Façade» will allow for reconstruction of the Passenger Terminal which is servicing ferries today. 

Passenger Port of Saint-Petersburg «Marine Façade» PLC is in the ownership of the city of St. Petersburg and is the largest passenger seaport in Russia. Construction of Marine Façade began in 2006. The port can accommodate cruise and ferry ships of up to 330 m long and with a draft of up to 8.8 m. The length and depth of new access channels - 10 km and 11 m, accordingly. The port operates seven piers. The quay-side length – 2,171.06 m.
