Cargo turnover of Osetrovsky River Port up 12% to 715 t in 10M’16

In January-October 2016, Osetrovsky River Port OJSC (Starway Group, Irkutsk Region) loaded and shipped 715 t of cargo, up 12%, year-on-year. Starway Group says the volume of incoming cargo grew by 15% to over 771 t.

In the navigation season of 2016 the port loaded onto river transport 613,000 t of cargo, +5.3% against the navigation season of 2015 which lasted for 17 days more.

According to Leonid Dolgoush, Managing Director of Osetrovsky River Port, the navigation was closed on September 26 amid low water level in the upper part of the Lena river.

This year the company provided services to its traditional and new clients: Irkutsk Oil Company, Schlumberger and Gazprom as well as its contractors under Power of Siberia project. ORP handled about 245,000 t of cargo for Gazprom and its contractors. Lenskaya Shipping Company (LSC, Starway Group) increased cargo handling by 32.1% to 250,000 t including 197,000 t under Power of Siberia project. To accept and store Gazprom cargoes LSC arranged five new temporary storage facilities.

ORP and LSC facilities were fitted with new handling equipment including more than 20 crane trucks and other equipment for moving cargo within the port territory and from unloading berths to storage facilities.

ORP has increased sawn timber transshipment from water to railway transport 1.9 times to 15,300 t. This cargo is then exported in open-top wagons and containers. The company has fully performed its obligations on delivery of coal to Russia’s northern regions.

“Over 178,000 t of cargo is at the port’s storage facilities … We expect that, despite low water, annual throughput of Osetrovsky port will be close to the planned level,” said Arkady Lavrov, Chairman of ORP Board of Directors, Vice-President of Starway Group.

Osetrovsky River Port OJSC (Starway Group) and Rechservis LLC constitute the largest logistic center on the Lena river for transporting of cargoes to the northern areas of the Irkutsk Region, Sakha Rebublic (Yakutia) and other areas on the Arctic coast from Khatanga to Kolyma. In the navigation season of 2015 the port handled 587,000 t of cargo (+8%, year-on-year).

Apart from Osetrovsky River Port and Rechservis, Starway Group includes Osetrovskaya Shipping Company, Lenskaya Cargo Company, Starway-Logistics and AllianceAutoGroup.
