WMU delivered EPDC on Maritime Safety to GEFO
WMU says it delivered an Executive Professional Development Course (EPDC) in Malmö on Maritime Safety Management and Handling of Operational Risk to Gesellschaft für Oeltransporte mbH (GEFO) from 10-11 November. The 21 participants included management level administrators, both shore-based and on-board, who are responsible for company-owned safety systems in terms of both installation and operation. Dr. Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, WMU President, opened the course by welcoming the participants to the University. She encouraged them to take full advantage of the faculty expertise available over the two-day course.
The main objective of the EPDC was to provide an update on the latest development of international activities related to maritime safety, including IMO activities related to inspection regimes, accident investigations, and the improvement of management of maritime operational risks. This was the third EPDC WMU has conducted for GEFO. Previous offerings included Emergency Management According to ISM Code, andImproving the Implementation of the ISM Code.
WMU Staff involved with the delivery of the course included Professor Jens-Uwe Schröder-Hinrichs, Associate Professor Michael Baldauf, Assistant Professor Dimitrios Dalaklis, Lecturer Megan Drewniak, and Research Assistant Armando Graziano.
