S. Korea accounts for the bulk of Vostochny Port’s coal exports

Vostochny Port JSC exports Russian coal to APR countries. S. Korea is the absolute leader among the consumers in 2016. It accounts for over 40% of the stevedore’s shipments. Japan is the second with 25%, China is the third with over 11%, says press center of Vostochny Port JSC.

According to the statement, this year has seen the growth of coal shipments to Malaysia. The list of consumers has expanded with India, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Philippines, Hong Kong, etc. 
 
In 2016, Vostochny Port was regularly visited by the delegations from APR countries. Among them were those who are the company’s partners and those looking into partnership in view of Phase III commissioning scheduled for 2017. 

In the framework of Moscow Transport Week 2016, Anatoly Lazarev, Managing Director of Vostochny Port JSC, said: “Our company is always open for international cooperation. If the global market requires introduction of additional services to ensure the highest possible standard of Russia’s resources, we will study all the offers worldwide and offer our services with high quality and competitive advantages.  

Vostochny Port JSC (Vrangel Bay, Primorsky Territory) is Russia’s largest publicly available terminal equipped with wagon dumpers, conveyor systems, ship loading equipment and a unique multilevel system of magnetic separation. The terminal exports coal produced by different coal companies of Russia.

In 2015 the port handled 22.8 mln t of coal, one fifth of all coal exports via Russian seaports and about 32% of coal transshipment via the ports of Russia’s Far East Basin. Key directions of coal exports via the terminal: APR, India and Latin America.

Vostochny Port JSC LLC is implementing an ambitious investment project on construction of the coal terminal’s Phase 3 including the construction of the federal railway infrastructure. New terminal facilities will be put into operation in 2017 allowing for port capacity to reach 39 mln t in 2019. The coal will be delivered from Kuzbass and other coal fields of Russia.
