Port of Gdansk throughput up 3.4% to 34.0 mln t in 11M’16

In January-November 2016, Port of Gdansk (Poland) handled 34.0 mln t of cargo (+3.4%, year-on-year), the stevedoring company says.

Transshipment of grain fell by 26.3% to 1.15 mln t, general cargo and timber up 23.7% to 13.3 mln t, other bulk cargo (aggregates, sulphur, ore) – up 8.9% to 3.4 mln t, coal – up 10% to 4.64 mln t, liquid fuel – down 13.3% to 11.6 mln t.

The port of Gdansk is a major international transportation hub situated in the central part of the southern Baltic coast. Besides handling bulk cargoes (oil, coal, metal, ores) the port provides a number of line services linking it with the ports of the Baltic Sea and Western Europe (primarily ferry, construction and ro-ro lines). In 2015, the port handled 35.91 mln t of cargo.
