BPA to construct facility for port workers near Pier 5

Busan Port Authority stated on the 17th that BPA will start its construction in December to build convenient facilities for port workers and port users near Busan North Port Pier 5 by injecting 70 million won. The construction is scheduled to be completed in Feb. 2017.

Even though around 250 small sized vessels including oil supply vessel dock at the 5 lighters wharf and 300 port employees work at the wharf, it did not have any convenient facilities including washrooms and shower rooms.

BPA acknowledged necessity of building facilities at the site, however, the area is designated as redevelopment site in the future. Hence, BPA agreed to construct portable structures after much deliberation with related institutions, port workers, and port users.

When the construction is completed next year, port users and workers work environment satisfaction is expected to be improved.

The construction is part of BPA’s management philosophy, “To Create Busan Port that Satisfies Customers.” It has a significant meaning since it was one of the agenda that was discussed at the Busan Port rally in May.
