According Federal Marine and River Transport Agency (Rosmorrechflot), cargo transportation by inland water ways of the Russian Federation declined by 2.9% to 117.9 mln t in January-December 2016.
Deliveries to the Far North totaled 18.5 mln t (+9%, year-on-year).
In the reporting period, cargo turnover grew by 5.6%, year-on-year, to 672,166.2 mln t-km.
Passenger traffic declined by 0.9% to 13.46 mln persons. Passenger turnover grew by 11.2% to 551.7 mln passengers.
Handling operations at inland water ways of Russia totaled 138.7 mln t (-3.4%, year-on-year).
The scope of dredging works performed in the navigation period of 2016 totaled 17.5 mln cbm of material.
The number of locking operations exceeded 215,200 (down 2.6%, year-on-year), the number of vessels involved –339,300 (up 0.3%).
