Kari Kosonen, Pilotage Director, M.Sc. (Eng.) and Master Mariner, has been appointed as the new CEO of Finnpilot Pilotage Ltd. He will assume this position as of 1 April 2017, says Finnpilot.
Kari Kosonen has worked as Pilotage Director for Finnpilot since the beginning of 2010 and as CEO of Finnpilot’s subsidiary, Ice Advisors Ltd. since 2015. Kosonen came to Finnpilot's service from the Finnish Maritime Administration, where he was responsible for the duties of VTS centre manager, senior inspector, head of the traffic division and deputy director. He has also earlier worked on different shipping company vessels, primarily carrying out the various duties of deck officers.
Additionally, Kari Kosonen has participated as a member or worked in managerial positions in numerous international navigational work groups (including GOFREP, IALA, IMO Navigation Committee), and has been involved in many similar collaboration groups in Finland (e.g., the maritime group within the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK) and the National advisory board for oil and marine chemical spill prevention and response).
Matti Pajula, the current CEO of Finnpilot Pilotage Ltd., is retiring. Matti Pajula has been the CEO of Finnpilot since 2004.
