USPA to expand range of tenderers for port infrastructure development

Ukrainian Seaports Authority (USPA) to hold a meeting with leading regional and international engineering and construction companies specializing on berth infrastructure works, said Raivis Veckagans, the head of USPA during the dialogue with the management of USPA branches on Thursday, 16 February 2017.

«We have a short-term plan of seaport engineering infrastructure development and we are ready to present it to potential contractors as well as discuss it and receive constructive proposals»,— says Raivis Veckagans.

According to estimates of USPA experts, more than 80% of berths require minor and capital repairs 20% of which need emergency repairs. The estimate cost of works total about 5 billion UAH.

«For instance, the berth № 7 in Odessa port was built in 1965 and we are seeking for a ways to its rapid restore. The berth infrastructure should work to ensure the balance between the interests of business and government. Definitely, the development of port facilities should run professionally and transparently. In this regard, we want to attract for such an engineering works both Ukrainian and foreign companies from Turkey, Bulgaria, Poland, China and others»,— Raivis Veckagans added.

Besides, Mr. Veckagans informed that USPA hold talks on cooperation with the Ukrainian representatives of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC), one of the world's oldest associations in the field of construction consultancy. The anticipated result of cooperation with FIDIC is introduction of international contact forms in the field of dredging (Blue book) and engineering works (Red book).
