DESMI Ocean Guard has sold more than 50 RayClean Ballast Water Treatment Systems based on filtration and UV treatment, Rasmus Folsø, CEO of DESMI Ocean Guard, said at the conference "Implementation of the BWMC in Russia” organized by Media Group PortNews with the assistance of the Russian Ministry of Transport.
“DESMI is offering a complete turnkey delivering of ballast water treatment systems including ship inspections with our own engineers, 3D laser scanning, engineering, preparation of drawings, delivering of the equipment, installation and commissioning. Finally, we also offer service agreements to make sure that the systems can be maintained for a number of years”, explained Rasmus Folsø adding that the Company is supplying its systems to Maersk Line, COSCO, Nordana and other customers.
The systems are delivered both for newbuilding projects and retrofit projects including container vessels, multi-purpose vessels, asphalt carriers, navy patrol ships, fishing vessels etc.
“RayClean Ballast Water Treatment Systems are based on filtration and UV treatment. We have chosen this technological because there is no chemicals involved which means that there is no risk of increased corrosion, no hazards to crew, vessel or the environment. Another advantage of this technology is in its independence of water salinity and absence of temperature limitations”, said Rasmus Folsø.
According to him, the systems of 300 cbm per hour normally cost about $100,000; for 600 cbm per hour the price would be about $175,000.
Rasmus Folsø also told about the water treatment systems for installation at port facilities. In May 2017 the company will supply such a system (300 cbm per hour) to the Port of Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan). The system will be put into operation in August 2017. The port system costs about EUR 200,000.
DESMI Ocean Guard develops and sells ballast water treatment systems for the removal of living organisms from ships' ballast water. The company has developed type approved ballast water treatment systems and is located in Norresundby, Denmark.
