Klaipėdos Nafta AB, the operator of petroleum products and liquefied natural gas terminals (KN), and Achema AB, the producer of nitrogen fertilisers and chemical products, have concluded agreements on the booking of LNG terminal capacities, says press release of Klaipėdos Nafta.
Upon signature of the agreements, Klaipėda LNG terminal capacities have been allocated to Achema AB, the terminal user, for the period between 1 April and 30 September this year. Achema AB booked regasification capacities that amount to over 5.8 million kWh under rated operating conditions.
‘Both the regulatory framework and the technological flexibility of the LNG terminal enable our customers to book terminal capacities for the period when they are needed most. They can do this at any time during the current gas year when market conditions are favourable. Significant capacities can be booked in this way, and customers have been increasingly using the opportunity starting from the second year of the terminal’s operation’, says Marius Pulkauninkas, KN‘s Acting Managing Director.
Three LNG terminal users - Lietuvos Dujų Tiekimas UAB, LITGAS UAB and Achema AB have booked LNG terminal’s capacities this year.
Information about free LNG terminal capacities available for the current gas year is published and updated on a regular basis on KN’s website. The current gas year started on 1 October 2016 and will end on 30 September 2017.
Apart from regasification, the Klaipėda LNG terminal also provides the gas transfer capacities to its customers. This year, the transfer operation was performed twice, from a floating storage regasification unit ‘Independence’ to a small-scale LNG carrier. The advantage of the terminal in a competitive market is that it has the technical capability of providing both regasification and transfer services to large number of users at the same time.
