Inter-agency committee on location of production facilities in the Leningrad Region has approved the project of a transshipment terminal at the port of Primorsk. According to the regional government, the concept provided by the investor, Multipurpose Reloading Complex (Primorsk), the facility is to be build on the territory covering 270 hectares, some 1.5 km from the port of Primorsk.
The terminal will be able to accept/dispatch up to 15.6 mln t of cargo per year. Investments into the project, which is to be implemented in three phases up to 2026, are estimated at RUB 76.8 bln.
In 2017-2018, the investor will carry out the survey and will obtain the permits. The construction is to commence in 2019 with the first phase to be put into operation by 2022.
Seaport of Primorsk is located in the Leningrad Region, on the eastern coast of the Bjyerkezund Strait (Gulf of Finland of the Baltic Sea). With its unique deep canal and large water area the port is capable of accommodating 200,000 DWT vessels, almost the largest ones able to enter the Baltic Sea.
