Troitsa Bay Seaport (MPBT LLC, port Zarubino, Primorsky Territory) says it has handled the container carrier MSRN 1 which has taken on board a test consignment of cargo transported from China to South Korea by the international transport corridor Primorye-2.

The delivery of cargo was initiated by the Far East Investment and Export Agency of RF Ministry of Industry and Trade with UGL Consulting Co. Ltd. (Beijing) as consignor.

The test container dispatched from Changchun (China) arrived in Pusan (South Korea) on 16 April 2017 having spent seven days in transit including five days to cross the territory of China to the Hunchun border crossing and one day to cross the border and reach Zarubino port (Russia). Upon completion of clearance procedures the container was loaded on board the ship and delivered to Pusan. It took one day to deliever it from Zarubino to Pusan.

Troitsa Bay Seaport LLC has been handling regular calls of ships operating on Zarubino-Pusan line from 2015. According to Vyacheslav Burin, Director General of the stevedoring company, the potential of MPBT allows for boosting of Primorye-2 turnover several times.

Leonid Petukhov, Director General of the Far East Investment and Export Agency, commented: “Extensive modernization of the international transport corridor Primorye-2 is underway. Experts say, its cargo base potential will make 23 mln t of grain and 15 mln t of containerized cargo by 2030. The experimental shipment lets reveal the drawbacks of the ITC … The findings will let develop the solutions to improve so that the transport corridor could run like clockwork by the moment the project is launched”.

According to UGL Consulting representative, the company takes part in the test in the framework of the state project on the development of the Northern China’s logistics network. The test container travelled on the Changchun – Hunchun– Zarubino – Pusan route. In the Russian Federation, it was shipped by FESCO Transportation Group. Shipping across China and by sea was performed by Maritime Silk Route International Shipping Co. Ltd (China).

Primorye-2 is one of two transport corridors between China and the Far East of Russia providing the shortest route for cargo transportation between China and the countries of the Asia-Pacific Region.
