Throughput of port Helsinki (Finland) up 9.7% to 4.36 mln t in 4M’17
In January-April 2017, the Port of Helsinki (Finland) handled 4.36 mln t of cargo (+9.7%, year-on-year), the port authority says.
Transshipment of export cargo totaled 2.1 mln t (+9.3%), import – 2.16 mln t (+9.9%).
According to the statement, the port’s container throughput declined by 1% to 154,400 TEUs. Transshipment of loaded containers declined by 0.9% to 117,880 TEUs, empty containers – by 1.6% to 36,510 TEUs.
The Port of Helsinki is one of the largest ports in Finland, the largest passenger port and the third largest in the Baltic Sea. The Port of Helsinki accounts for 77% of Finland's passenger traffic. In 2016, the port handled 11.62 mln t of cargo (+1.9%, year-on-year).
