  LNG dual fuel main engine successfully tested in Korea

  

  ESL Shipping says the factory acceptance test (FAT) of the world’s first MAN B&W 5G45ME-C9.5-GI LNG dual fuel main engine was successfully carried out at MAN B&W licensee STX Heavy Industries Changwon factory in Korea in April 2017. The test was carried out in good co-operation between shipowner, engine manufacturer, shipyard and classification society and to the highest quality and safety standards.

  All tests were carried out both in gas and fuel oil mode. The engine performed extremely well during change-overs between fuel oil- and gas modes. Big changes in engine load did not present any challenge for the engine while operating in gas mode. This is important especially for operation in heavy ice conditions. Recorded energy efficiency of the engine full filled design criteria and our high expectations.
