On 8 June 2017, Nizhegorodsky Teplokhod Shipyard (ZNT Yard) launched two SAR boats of Project 23040, РВК-1239 and РВК-1261.
The shipyard says the boats will undergo sea trials in summer and will be then delivered to RF Navy’s Pacific Fleet.
ZNT Yard has been building diving boats of Project 23040 from 2013. Initially, the shipyard was awarded by RF Defence Ministry with the order for 16, then the series was extended to 22 units.
Boats of Project 23040 designed and built by ZNT Yard are in service at RF Navy’s Black Sea, Baltic Sea, Pacific and Northern Fleets as well as Caspian Flotilla.
The 23040 project vessels have capabilities to perform diving operations at depths of 60 meters at seas with waves of up to 3 points, to carry out search and underwater survey of stricken ships using ROVs and a towed sonar. The boat also have firefighting capabilities to extinguish fires on ships, floating and shore based facilities with a height up to 30 meters, to pump water from the vessel and to supply power to disabled ships.
In September 2016, Nizhegorodsky Teplokhod Shipyard (ZNT Yard) launched two diving boats of Project 23040, РВК-1229 and РВК-1230 (Hulls No 1117 and No 1118). Having passed the sea trials the boats joined RF Navy’s Northern Fleet in November 2016. On 22 May 2017, the boats set sail for Severomorsk, their homeport in the Murmansk Region. The boats are currently at their home station.
