The heavy missile nuclear-powered cruiser ‘Pyotr the Great’ and the missile cruiser ‘Marshal Ustinov’ went out today to the Barents Sea for practising interaction inside of a formation, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.
The sortie will last several days, during which their crews will together practising joint manoeuvring, use of weapons and hardware. It is planned that the ships will perform a row of training tasks at the Fleet's ranges in the Barents Sea, including artillery firings against sea targets.
In addition to performing combat exercises, special attention is being paid to training the crews to struggle for survivability of ships on the move and when anchored, as well as providing assistance at sea and organising towage of a symbolically damaged ship that has been dead in the water.
The last episode will be participated by the Northern Fleet’s search-and-rescue forces composed of the rescue tug ‘Nikolay Chiker’, which will tow each of the ships.
