Admiralteiskie Verfi shipyard and RF Navy to sign contract for construction of two more diesel-electric submarines of Project 677 ‘Lada’

Admiralteiskie Verfi shipyard (Saint-Petersburg) will build two new diesel-electric submarines of Project 677 ‘Lada’ armed with precision weapons for RF Navy, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Victor Bursuk, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of RF Navy, as saying at the International Maritime Defence Show ’IMDS-2017’.

According to Victor Bursuk, the contracts will be signed in the nearest future.

Distinctive features of project 677 submarines in comparison with the previous generations of submarines are the ability to conduct salvo missile firing at sea targets, improved characteristics of electronic equipment, availability of an integrated automated system for controlling the ship, her combat, technical means and weapons, a new modern hydroacoustic complex capable to detect low-noise targets at large distances, of retractable devices non-penetrating into the sturdy hull.

Also, the hulls of project 677 ‘Lada’ submarines feature anti-hydroacoustic coating of the new generation.

At present, two project 677 ‘Lada’ submarines – ‘Kronstadt’ and ‘Velikiye Luki’ – are at the various stages of their construction.

This lead submarine, ‘St. Petersburg’, is being tested by the Northern Fleet.
