Throughput of port Tallinn (Estonia) down 7.1% to 9.94 mln t in HI’2017

In January-June 2017, the Port of Tallinn (Estonia) handled 9.94 mln t of cargo (-7.1%, year-on-year). According to the Port Authorities, passenger traffic via the port grew by 4.3% to 4.62 mln people (the growth was driven mostly by the passenger flow between Tallinn and Helsinki). Cargo transshipment decline is attributed to reduced handling of liquid bulk cargo while transshipment of package cargo demonstrated a slight increase.

Port of Tallinn ranks fourth largest seaport, next to St. Petersburg, Primorsk and Ust-Luga, on the Baltic Sea. The Port comprises five so-called port zones: Muuga, Old City Harbor, Paljassaare, Paldiski South and Saaremaa. In 2016 throughput at Tallinn port totaled 20.12 million tonnes.
