Throughput of port Ust-Luga up 14% to 50.94 mln t in HI’2017

In January-June 2017, the port of Ust-Luga handled 50,941,100 t of cargo (+14%, year-on-year), says Baltic Sea Ports Administration.

Transshipment of dry bulk cargo climbed by 32% to 32% - до 16,495,300 t, coal and coke – up 45% to 14,120,700 t. 

Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo climbed by 7% to 32,833,100 t including 16,621,800 t of crude oil (+14%) and 15,236,600 t of oil products (-1%). 

Transshipment of general cargo climbed by 1% to 347,900 t.

Transshipment of cargoes carried by ferries totaled 737,700 (-2%). 

The port’s container throughput fell by 5.5% to 35,730 TEUs.

In 2016, the port handled 93.36 mln t of cargo, container throughput totaled 83,934 TEUs.

Ust-Luga port is situated practically at the border of the Russian Federation and the European Union. The deep water area of the port (17.5 m) together with the approach channel (3.7 km) make Ust-Luga port the only Russian port on the Baltic Sea capable of admitting dry-cargo vessels with the deadweight of up to 75,000 tonnes and liquid cargo carriers with the deadweight of up to 160,000 tonnes.
