Throughput of Ukraine’s seaports in HI'17 climbed by 5% Y-o-Y to 66.3 mln t

In January-June 2017, seaports of Ukraine handled 66.3 mln t of cargo, up 5%, year-on-year, says press center of Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.

Transshipment of export cargo totaled 50.9 mln t (+5.4%) including 19.6 mln t of grain (+20%), 2.9 mln t of vegetable oil (+33.8%), 7 mln t of metal products (-15%) and 11.6 mln t of ore (-8.6%).

Transshipment of imports grew by 17.6% to 9.4 mln t including 2.6 mln t of coal (+41.5%).

In the reporting period, Ukraine’s ports handled 5.3 mln t of transit cargo (+1.9%) and 0.6 mln t of coastal trade cargo.

The highest results were demonstrated by port Yuzhny – 22.1 mln t (+7.3%), Odessa – 12.3 mln t (+5.6%), Nikolayev — 11.4 mln t (+6.3%)..

In the reporting period, transshipment of liquid bulk cargo grew by 11.4% to 5.7 mln t, dry bulk cargo – by 8.1% to 47.6 mln t.

Container throughput in seaports of Ukraine t grew by 6.2% to 300,000 TEUs including 132,900 ТЕUs of export containers (+4.4%), 149,200 ТЕUs of import containers (+ 4.9%), 17,800 ТЕUs of transit containers (+ 38.9%) and 800 ТЕUs of coastal trade containers (-17.6%).

From the beginning of the year, seaports of Ukraine handled 5,672 vessels (+455 vessels, or 7.4%, year-on-year).
