A fleet of 13 electric vehicles have been delivered to the Port of Southampton to replace diesel cars and vans currently used by the port, the company said in its press release.
Air quality in Southampton has become an issue and the main cause for failing to meet European air quality standards within the city is emissions from vehicles.
The new electric vehicles, supplied by Southampton based dealership West Way Nissan, will be used across the UK’s number one export port by ABP Southampton staff.
The 13 Nissan vehicles will be the first all-electric vehicles in the ABP fleet.
This initiative is one of a number the port is looking to roll out to further reduce the impact it has on the environment locally over the coming months.
