RF Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has signed a resolution dated 10 August 2017 (No 1726-r) which approves the decision to expand Vysotsk seaport (Leningrad Region) in order to implement an investment project on construction of a terminal for shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG). According to the statement of the Government’s official website, the project investor is Gazprom.
Design capacity of the terminal is 2 mln t of LNG per year. The terminal will be able to accommodate and handle vessels of up to 170,000 t in capacity.
The project implies the construction of a water area and water approaches, an anchorage, a berth for LNG shipments, berths for accepting oversized and heavy cargo, construction materials and equipment (for the construction period) and an area for port fleet mooring (for the operation period), an approach jetty to arrange transport connection of the berths with the shore and for laying the process pipelines and utility networks, a wave protection structure, floating/nonfloating aids to navigation, buildings and structures of the terminal, power supply facilities.
The decision is focused on the development of port infrastructure in the Leningrad Region. It will let generate new jobs in the region.
The document has been developed by the Ministry of Transport in compliance with the Law on Seaports of the Russian Federation approved by RF Government on 19 March 2013 (No 384-r).
