M/V Mikhail Kutuzov (Murmansk Shipping Company) passed Northern Sea Route without icebreaker assistance
M/V Mikhail Kutuzov of Murmansk Shipping Company (MSC) loaded with sawn timber made a transit voyage from Arkhangelsk to China by the Northern Sea Route without icebreaker assistance. According to MSC, the ship carrying 23,000 cbm of domestic timber covered more than 6,900 nautical miles without icebreaker assistance, even at the most challenging parts of the route.
As it was scheduled, the ship called at the port of Taicang (Jiangsu province) on September 2. Having unloaded about 17,000 t of timber the ship will deliver the rest of its load to the port of Nancha.
