On 20 September 2017, the first DAMEN Tanker 8000 Shallow Draft (DT8000 SD) was launched at DAMEN Shipyards Yichang, China.
In direct response to the market, this tanker is built on stock and will be available for delivery to a prospective customer in December 2017 while the second one will be available from January 2018, says the company.
These river-sea tankers will acquire the classification of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping with the cargo capacity of approximately 8,000 m3.
The tankers with length of 140 m and beam of 16.7 m are capable of operating in shallow river and coastal waters. Even with the draft of only 3.60 m the vessels can carry up to 5,400 tons of refined products or crude oil in multiple segregated tanks.
The tankers are currently available for sale and are waiting for a potential buyer from Russia.
