Albwardy Damen announces Experience Day at its shipyard in Sharjah, UAE, on 28 September

Albwardy DAMEN will once again be holding an Experience Day at its shipyard in Sharjah, UAE, immediately following the three-day Seatrade Middle East event taking place in Abu Dhabi, the company said in its press release.

The Experience Day is open to all those interested in innovative and high-quality workboats, and during the day guests will have the opportunity to tour the new-build and maintenance facilities, attend a range of seminars and enjoy on-the-water demonstrations of various DAMEN vessels.

On-the-water demonstrations and seminars
Guests attending the Experience Day will be able to inspect and experience other DAMEN vessels including tugs, additional classes of crew supply vessels and a high-speed interceptor. During the day there will also be a number of seminars that guests are welcome to attend. Topics under discussion will include crew boats and crew transfers, harbour and terminal operations, rotor tugs, dredging, customer finance and simulator training.

Delivery ceremony for DAMEN FCS 4008 AMPI
The highlight of the day will be the 1200 noon delivery ceremony for the new DAMEN FCS 4008, named AMPI. This will be the first of two identical vessels for the Dubai-based Marine Core & Charter LLC (marinec2.com), an integrated offshore support and marine services company that manages and operates a wide range of workboats, tugs and barges.

The contract for the two DAMEN Fast Crew Suppliers was placed just two months previously and the protocol for the delivery of the first was signed yesterday on the DAMEN stand at the Seatrade Offshore Middle East Exhibition in Abu Dhabi. As part of the signing, Mr Pascal Slingerland of DAMEN Shipyards Group presented Mr Adib Abdel Massih, Chief Executive Officer of Marine Core & Charter, with a scale model of the FCS 4008 to mark the event.

The FCS 4008 is a recently introduced class of DAMEN crew boat in the DAMEN SEA AXE family. 41-metres in length, its steel hull ensures strength while its aluminium superstructure keeps the weight down and allows it reach speeds of up to 28 knots. AMPI has industrial-grade seating inside for 90 personnel and the 150m² aft deck has ample space for containers and other equipment. Damen’s famous ‘axe bow’ design ensures excellent sea-keeping in a wide range of weather conditions, ensuring that personnel arrive at their destinations in good shape.

AMPI and her sister ship AMIA will be used for the long-distance delivery of crew and equipment for an oil and gas major operating in the Gulf. However the FCS 4008 design is also ideal for other operations including safety stand-by duties, security/patrol missions and they can be even outfitted as dedicated, high-speed, oil recovery vessels.
