In January-September 2017, seaport of Azov handled 7.582 mln t mln t of cargo (+2.4%, year-on-year), the port Harbour Master Vladimir Bragin told IAA PortNews.
In the reporting period, transshipment of grain grew by 8.1% to 4.460 mln t, oil products – fell by 18.1% to 2.012mln t while coal transshipment surged 2.2 times to 612,000 t.
Internal turnover of Azov seaport increased by 15.6% to 5.710 mln t, imports – by 38.6% to 245,000 t, coastal trade cargo – by 69% to 2.784 mln t. Exports dropped by 13.9% to 2.682 mln t, transit – by 24.2% to 1.872 mln t.
The Azov Port Harbour Master Service registered 2,736 arrivals and 2,757 departures vs 2,940 arrivals and 2,924 departures in January-September 2016.
Port of Azov is situated on the banks of the Don river. It is the main gateway between the Mediterranean Sea with the inland waterways of Russia and the Caspian Sea, for freight flows to the central part of Russia, the Urals and Central Asia. The boundaries of the port's basin include the River Don from the 3151.0-km stretch, the Koysug River to the receiving Buoy No 1 of Azov-Don Sea Canal, including outer anchorage No. 6 and the Calancea bayou to Dugino stop-over point.
