On October 02nd within the framework of cooperation between “PP SPb MF” PLC and Port of Turku, the Port of Turku Ltd management in the person of Sales Director Nirhamo Jaakko, vice-chairman of the board of directors Raaska Petja and Business Development Manager Anstead Paula paid an official visit to the Passenger Port of St. Petersburg, says press center of the Russian port.
The official meeting was devoted to a number of topical issues between the Port of Turku Ltd and the Passenger Port of St. Petersburg within the framework of Memorandum of Understanding.
On 21st of July representatives of Passenger Port of St. Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC with the delegation headed by St Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko paid an official visit to the sister city of St. Petersburg Turku (Finland), during which a Memorandum of Understanding Between Passenger Port of St. Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC and Port of Turku Ltd was signed.
Among the main areas of cooperation these should be noted: parties aim at improving the attractiveness of cruise and ferry tourism in the region and creating the most comfortable environment for passengers of cruise and ferry vessels, representatives of cruise and ferry lines and tour operators, by developing ports’ infrastructure, improving the quality and increasing the quantity of available services, taking other relevant measures.
Moreover, the companies intend to develop a joint initiative on attracting operators of cruise lines and ferry lines in order to organize regular international ferry connection between the Passenger Port of St. Petersburg and Port of Turku.
Also the Memorandum of Understanding provides the increase of information partnership intensity, organisation and joint participation in specialised congresses and exhibitions and other areas of cooperation.
At the end of the meeting parties discussed the terms and prospects for the projects implementation, outlined the nearest joint initiatives and also agreed on a joint participation in events aimed at developing the tourist potential of the cities. The parties expressed their confidence that joint work will further increase the interest of tourists to the Baltic region.
During the business meeting "PP SPb MF" PLC representatives acquainted the guests with the port infrastructure and informed about the implementation of long-term investment projects and development plans of the Port. They also had a chance to explore the “Norwegian Getaway” cruise ship.
Passenger Port of St. Petersburg representatives also invited guests to visit the Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard as part of the International Innovative Forum of Public Transport “Smart Transport” 2017 programme and to go onboard of the newest high-speed passenger catamaran "Griffin".
