Throughput of Russian seaports in 9M’17 grew by 9% to 580.2 mln t

In January-September 2017, seaports of Russia handled 580.2 mln t of cargo (up 9%, year-on-year), says press center of the Association of Commercial Sea Ports.

Transshipment of dry cargo totaled  272.0 mln t (+9.3%) including 115.6 mln t of coal (+13.4%), 35.4 mln t of containerized cargo (+13.0%), 31.1 mln t of grain (+26.9%), 20.8 mln t of ferrous metal (-3.3%), 2.2 mln t of refrigerated cargo (- 1.8%).

Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo grew to 308.2 mln t (+8.8%) including 188.6 mln t of crude oil (+13.7%), 105.8 mln t of oil products (+0.7%) and 10.5 mln t of liquefied gas (+8.8%). 

Exports totaled 447.6 mln t (+6.4%), imports - 26.7 mln t (+15.4%), transit - 42.8 mln t (+17.3%), coastal trade cargo - 62.9 mln t(+21.5%).

Operators of the Arctic Basin handled 54.4 mln t (+56.3%) including 32.8 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+118.4%) and 21.6 mln t of dry cargo (+9.2%). The port of Murmansk handled 38.1 mln t (+64.9%), Varandei - 6.4 mln t (+7.2%). 

The ports of the Baltic Sea Basin handled 184.3 mln t (+5.3%) including 76.8 mln t of dry cargo (+16.3%) and 107.5 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-1.4 %). The port of Ust-Luga handled 76.0 mln t (+10.9 %), Primorsk - 44.6 mln t (-7.6 %), Big Port St. Petersburg - 39.4 mln t (+9.6%), Vysotsk - 12.9 mln t (+2.7%).

Throughput of seaports in the Azov-Black Sea Basin totaled  194.7 mln t (+8.3 %) including 83.1 mln t of dry cargo (+7.1%) and 111.6 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+9.1%). The port of Novorossiysk handled 107.4 mln t (+11.1%), Tuapse - 19.9 mln t (+6.8 %), Kavkaz - 25.4 mln t (+3.8%), Taman - 10.9 mln t (+14.6%), Rostov-on-Don - 10.3 mln t (+4.4%), Kerch - 6.5 mln t (-9.1%).

The ports of the Caspian Basin handled 2.7 mln t (-36.5%) including 1.9 mln t of dry cargo (-9.5%) and 0.8 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-63.8%). The port of Makhachkala handled 0.9 mln t (-59.7%), Astrakhan - 1.6 mln t (-9.6 %), Olya – 168 mln t (+32.4%).

The ports of the Far East Basin handled 143.9 mln t (+4.4%) including 88.4 mln t of dry cargo (+6.3%) and 55.5 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+1.4%). Port Vostochny handled 51.5 mln t (+1.1%), Vanino - 22.1 mln t (-2.6%), Nakhodka - 18.2 mln t (+4.5%), Prigorodnoye - 12.7 mln t (+9.1%), Vladivostok - 12.4 mln t (+19%), Posiet - 5.7 mln t (-5.5%), De-Castri - 8.5 mln t (-0.3 %).

Association of Commercial Sea Ports (ASOP) set up in 1987 unites over 50 organizations and enterprises of Russia’s maritime transport. ASOP comprises commercial seaports, forwarding and agency companies, scientific research institutes and marine educational institutions. Operational results of Russian port sector are based on statistics reports and cover all stevedoring companies operating in the Russian Federation.
