RF Government instructed to ensure construction of freight-passenger ship to link Komandorskiye Islands, Kurils and Kamchatka

RF President Vladimir Putin approved a list of instructions following the State Council Presidium meeting on the comprehensive socioeconomic development of the Russian Far East held in Vladivostok on 6 September 2017. According to the document available at the official website of RF President’s Administration, RF Government is instructed to ensure, starting from 2018,  the construction of a freight-passenger ship to link Komandorskiye Islands and the city of Severo-Kurilsk with the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

By 1 December 2017, RF Government is to submit proposals on financing of the construction of a ship for a regular transportation between Kamchatka, ports of Sakhalin and Magadan Region, Primorsky Territory and ports of the Kurils.

By 1 December 2017, the Government is also to submit proposals on including into the state programme of the Russian Federation the activities on reconstruction of Vanino and Kholmsk infrastructure for a ferry link between the island of Sakhalin and the mainland; construction of a ferry berth on the left shore of the Anadyr Bay in the settlement of Ugolnyje Kopi; setting of a single tariff for transportation of cargo by the network of Yakitia Railways JSC and Russian Railways OJSC; setting of long-term tariffs for cargo transportation by railways.

By 1 March 2018, RF Government and Bank of Russia should submit proposals on creation of a regional financial center at the Free Port of Vladivostok to ensure competitive conditions for financial activities in the APR.
