Sea Port of St.Petersburg estimated intermediate results of its environmental programme
JSC «Sea Port of St.Petersburg» says it made the intermediate estimates of the environmental programme results for 9 months of 2017. From the beginning of this year the company invested 24.5 million RUR in environmental initiatives.
Major portion of the funds was spent for upgrade and development of water disposal system on the First and the Second areas of the port, and for maintenance of environmental facilities. Among other things, the company completed the design works for new treatment plants.
Furthermore, the Port increased the financing of air quality compliance monitoring which resulted in more frequent collection of samples at the edge of sanitary protection zone. The tests proved that air quality corresponds to the existing standards.
JSC «Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg» (a company of UCL Port – stevedoring division of the international transportation group UCL Holding) – is the largest provider of cargo handling services for all types of dry cargoes in the Greater Port of Saint-Petersburg. It operates several state-of-the-art multi-purpose terminals for handling of general and bulk cargoes, as well as specialized terminals for ro-ro and container cargoes. For 9 months of 2017 the company’s cargo turnover amounted to 5.1 million tons.
