PortShuttle adds second shuttle service in Rotterdam

PortShuttle has launched a new rail container exchange service between the CTT Pernis terminal and the deepsea container terminals at Maasvlakte, the company said in its press release. For the moment, the train’s schedule has been set at three round trips per week. This new service represents a sizeable expansion of container exchange capacity between the various Maasvlakte terminals.

PortShuttle (link is external) started in 2015, providing a neutral rail service five times a week between Rail Service Center (RSC) Rotterdam and all the deepsea container terminals in the port area. This shuttle service not only speeds up the exchange of containers and reduces its environmental impact; it also lowers users’ costs by up to 20 percent.

The new shuttle was set up in response to a recent demand from the market for a similar service from the CTT Pernis terminal. This service is intended to further optimise the position of Rotterdam’s rail freight sector and consequently its entire logistics chain.
