In the second quarter of 2018, Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam (ECT), United Waalhaven Terminals (UWT) and Smith Holland will be launching an Empty Transferium at Maasvlakte’s ECT Euromax terminal, ECT said in its press release.
The new Empty Transferium is intended for both refrigerated containers (reefers) and ‘ordinary’ containers. Services offered at the facility will include transport to and from the Transferium, inspection and cleaning of the containers, minor repairs to both the container itself and the reefer’s refrigeration system and pre-trip inspection (PTI).
According to ECT, it makes sense to provide these services on location at the deep sea terminal, since this minimises the delay before a container can be put back into service.
