Production capacity of Russian seaports in 2017 will grow by 22 mln t with the commissioning of some Sabetta facilities and reconstruction of facilities at Primorsk and Azov ports, press center of RF Ministry of Transport cites Maxim Sokolov, RF Transport Minister, as saying at the Second Meeting of VEB Regional Managers held on 18 December 2017.
In the segment of inland water transport, the Minister emphasized the commissioning of a new lock on the Oka river which completes the reconstruction of the Moscow River – Oka River water system.
Construction of the Bagayevsky and Nizhny Novgorod hydrosysems is to solve infrastructure problems. Financing of the projects will exceed RUB 65 bln.
“They will ensure the depth of 4 meters and over two-fold increase of river fleet capacity along the entire Unified Deepwater System”, said the Minister.
Key projects in the Arctic Basin are the construction of Sabetta seaport, Lavna terminal able to handle 18 mln t of coal under the Murmansk Transport Hub project. The projects being implemented in the Azov-Black Sea Basin (ports of Taman and Novorossiysk) will ensure the capacity growth by over 60 mln t by 2021. In the Far East Basin, the Minster mentioned investment projects on the development of Vostochny Port’s coal terminal (Phase 3) and construction of a coal transshipment facility on the northern coast of the Muchke Bay.
