Operation on placing storage tanker Kola (earlier known as FAIR TRADER) in the Kola Bay (seaport of Murmansk) for offshore transshipment of oil produced by LUKOIL is nearing completion. As IAA PortNews was informed by a source familiar with the project, the operation on placing a tanker at the Kola Bay anchorage started on 18 December 2017. The operation involves eight tugboats owned by Alloance and MASCO companies.
The new offshore transshipment facility (FSO “LK Volga”) with annual capacity of 12 mln t is placed north of FSO “Nord”.
7 mln t of Varandei oil is to be transshipped via the facility in 2018. Before 2017, export oil shipped from the Varandei terminal was reloaded at the port of Kirkenes (Norway). From 2017, transshipment of this oil has been shifted to the offshore facility in the port of Murmansk (Kola Oil Terminal LLC).
