Fincantieri among first shipbuiliders to receive information security certification
Rina Services awarded Fincantieri the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 and ISO 9001:2015 certifications regarding the management system and the quality of the information security. Fincantieri is among the first shipbuilding companies to receive these certifications, the shipbuilding company said in a press release.
In particular, the ISO27001 certification process verified the adequacy of the company processes in the ICT field (i.e. Information and Communications Technology) compliant with the requirements of the international reference standard for the management of information security. This completely positive outcome also represents an important step towards meeting the new European Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), fully implemented starting from May 2018.
Alberto Maestrini, General Manager of Fincantieri, stated: “This acknowledgment confirms the technological edge of Fincantieri Group: the uniqueness of our know-how, together with the efficiency of the ICT processes and the increasing data protection levels, significantly strengthen our competitiveness on the international markets, which are increasingly demanding benchmarks of utter excellence in these fields”.
Michele Francioni, CEO of RINA Services, added: “The result achieved by Fincantieri confirms the increasingly widespread need to support production processes, technologies and the expertise of companies with tools that protect corporate information. RINA Services is proud to have contributed to this important achievement, certifying the information security of one of the world's leading shipbuilders”.
