Russian Federal Fisheries Agency (Rosrybolovstvo) has received 68 applications for state support quotas including 34 applications for construction of fishing ships and 34 applications for construction of fish processing plants, Rosrybolovstvo cites its head, Ilya Shestakov, as saying at the meeting with media representatives.
28 investment projects are to be implemented in the Far East: 10 projects on fleet renovation including seven large ships (over 105 m long) and three mid-size ships as well as 18 projects for on-shore processing. In the Northern Basin there are 24 applications for construction of fishing ships and 18 applications for construction of processing plants.
Total investments are estimated at RUB 130.
According to the statement, construction of some ships has begun before the end of the application campaign with one ship already launched.
Ilya Shestakov says the catch of Russian fishing companies has exceeded 4.7 mln t this year, up 2.5% versus the catch of the previous year which showed a record high result over the recent 20 years.
Under the strategy for renovation of port infrastructure, the year of 2017 has seen signing of numerous agreements for port facilities renting. Ilya Shestakov commented in this respect: “It should be noted that all those agreements imply investment obligations… We expect that most of projects aimed at improvement of infrastructure in the Far East, its transshipment and renovation of freezing facilities will bring a perceptible effect”.
