The Russian Navy’s oceanographic research vessel Admiral Vladimirsky has reached the Indian Ocean and started research operation within the 2nd international expedition in the Indian Ocean under the auspices of the UNESCO's Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.
The ship is tasked to perform a large amount of research work in order to update navigational charts on her transit route in the Baltic, Northern, Mediterranean and Red seas, as well as in the Indian Ocean and the north-east Atlantic Ocean.
The main goal of the expedition is a complex oceanographic research in the Indian Ocean.
