Port of Gdansk throughput up 9% to 40.6 mln t in 2017

In January-December 2017, Port of Gdansk (Poland) handled 40,613,784 t of cargo (+9%, year-on-year), the stevedoring company says.

Transshipment of grain totaled 774,169 t, general cargo and timber – 18,052,150 t, other bulk cargo (aggregates, sulphur, ore) – 3,535,972 t, coal – 5,083,286 t, liquid fuel – 13,168,207 t.

The port of Gdansk is a major international transportation hub situated in the central part of the southern Baltic coast. Besides handling bulk cargoes (oil, coal, metal, ores) the port provides a number of line services linking it with the ports of the Baltic Sea and Western Europe (primarily ferry, construction and ro-ro lines). In 2016, the port handled 37,288,969 t of cargo.
